Wolves could still sign Ainsley Maitland Niles
Wolves could still sign Arsenal starlet Ainsley Maitland Niles according to reports in the Mail. The report suggests that the full-back is prioritising regular playing time and feels he may not be able to get that at Arsenal now that Hector Bellerin looks set to say at the Emirates Stadium. The 23-year-old needs to be playing first-team football regularly to be in with a shout of being selected for England on a regular basis after he made his full international recently.
It’s understood Wolves’ priority for the right-wing-back position is Maitland Niles and playing the long game may have just paid off as the club are said to be preparing a new and improved bid for his services. It’s worth noting that Arsenal also need to sell to fund other signings too.
Wolves ‘edging closer’ to signing Jesus Corona
Wolves have been consistently linked with Porto star Jesus Corona throughout the window and it’s an easy link to make. Corona had been playing right-wing-back for Porto all season so you can see why the link is extremely easy to make.
However, reports recently have intensified that Wolves could be on the verge of bringing in Jesus Corona having had two bids of €22 million and €24 million turned down by the cash-strapped Porto. It’s understood that Porto are looking to receive €30 million for Corona which is the player’s release clause but it’s thought that the two clubs could be close to agreeing on the fee according to ESPN’s Jorge Ramos.
It’s thought Maitland Niles is the clubs no 1 target for the right-wing-back position but Jesus Corona would be a major coup for Wolves and would most importantly, improve the starting 11.
There are still rumours circulating that Tomás Esteves could still make the switch from Porto to Wolves to so that’s worth keeping an eye on.
Wolves join the race to sign Alex Telles
Wolves have sensationally been linked with a move for Porto left-back Alex Telles as the Brazilian looks set to leave Porto with the club looking to cash in on a player who has just a year left on his deal according to Sport TV in Portugal.
Telles, who’s arguably in the top five left-back’s in the world looked set for a move to Manchester United but now Wolves are said to be interested in signing him.
For Wolves to sign such a player would easily be the signing of the window and would take Wolves to that next level but Wolves’ name is probably being used as a negotiating tool to try and get more money out of Manchester United.
Wolves have first bid rejected for Pepe
Wolves have had their first bid rejected for Gremio’s Pepe as the Brazilian club are desperate to keep hold of their most prized asset. The bid, according to Andre Hernan was around €15 million with Gremio looking for a fee north of €20 million.
A deal for Pepe looked close as his agent flew into London to agree personal terms with Wolves but the two clubs are yet to agree a fee. It’s understood the player is keen on a move to Molineux but Gremio don’t want to lose him until the end of the season.
Ruben Vinagre exit currently looking unlikely
Porto are reportedly unlikely to make a move for Wolves’ Ruben Vinagre as it’s stated that the Portuguese club will struggle to afford the 21-year-old according to Record. It’s thought a bid of £10 million with hefty add-on clauses could be enough to see Wolves let him go.
