Wolves Player Ratings Following Disastrous 4-1 Defeat To Manchester United

Wolverhampton Wanderers suffered another difficult night at Molineux, as Manchester United claimed a 4-1 victory. The visitors dominated a dismal Wolves side from the outset, taking 25 shots at Sam Johnstone. Although Jean-Ricner Bellegarde brought the hosts level just before half-time, poor defending was punished time and time again in the second half. Goals from Fernandes, Mount, and Mbeumo condemned Wolves to a record eighth straight Premier League defeat. Here are our Wolves player ratings.

Sam Johnstone – 4/10

Beaten four times, but the scoreline could have been even worse without him. Johnstone was kept extremely busy, faced a penalty and had to deal with a relentless stream of shots from United.

Ki-Jana Hoever – 4/10

Switched off far too many times, was caught out of position for Mbeumo’s goal and failed to get anywhere near Mount for the third. There were moments when he defended well, but the significant errors were costly.

Yerson Mosquera – 3/10

A night to forget. He allowed Dalot far too much space in behind for United’s second goal, and later conceded the penalty for the fourth goal. An abysmal performance.

Emmanuel Agbadou – 4/10

He was probably the most assured of the central defenders, but his defending for the opening goal was comical.

Toti Gomes – 4/10

Significant drop off in performance from the skipper tonight. Never fully settled and found it challenging to deal with United’s pace and movement.

David Møller Wolfe – 5.5/10

Produced an excellent cross to set up Bellegarde’s equaliser, but his failure to track back for the second United goal was frustrating.

Ladislav Krejčí – 5/10

A solid if unspectacular display. Worked hard and recovered possession more often than André, but didn’t manage to impose himself on the game.

André – 3/10

Giving the ball away for Fernandes’ goal summed up his night. He was sloppy in possession and failed to impose himself on the game.

Jhon Arias – 3/10

The effort was there, but he isn’t good enough; his decision-making and end product are both poor, another rough night in Old Gold.

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde – 7/10

One of the only positives of the game. He was constantly trying to drive Wolves forward and capped off his performance with a goal. His injury and the manner of his departure from the pitch were a concern.

Jørgen Strand Larsen – 3/10

Once again isolated and ineffective. Offered absolutely no goal threat, failed to register a shot on target, and couldn’t trouble the United defenders.

Substitutes

Fer López – 5/10

A challenging situation to be introduced into. He kept things simple, but never really had a chance to influence the game.

Mateus Mané – 5/10

Showed intent and energy after coming on. With Bellegarde injured, he may be in line for more minutes.

Tolu Arokodare – 5/10

Suffered from a lack of service just like Larsen, although he was better in the air than the Norwegian.

Hugo Bueno – 5/10

Neat and composed after returning to the squad, though the game had gone by the time he was introduced.

Jackson Tchatchoua – N/A

Introduced in the 87th minute, with the result beyond a doubt.

Overall, it was a sobering evening for Wolves, with far too many individual mistakes and not enough standout performances. Bellegarde’s goal provided a brief spark, but it wasn’t enough to mask a night where Manchester United exposed Wolves’ weaknesses and left the Molineux side with yet more unwanted records.
