Player Ratings As Sorry Wolves Lose 4-0 To West Ham

In the words of Will from the Inbetweeners: “Well, that was ******* dreadful.”

Wolverhampton Wanderers’ survival hopes took a heavy blow as they were thrashed 4-0 by West Ham United in a night to forget. For 40 minutes, everything actually looked promising. Wolves were on top, controlling the game and giving supporters a reason to believe. But one controversial corner changed everything just before half-time, and from there, the collapse was as dramatic as it was damaging. After a night, I think we would rather forget. Here are our player ratings.

José Sá – 4/10

Left exposed far too often. Made a couple of saves to stop things getting even uglier, but had about as much protection as a chocolate teapot.

Yerson Mosquera – 3/10

A chaotic evening summed up by a needless booking for dissent. Suspended again, which might actually be a blessing based on this showing.

Santiago Bueno – 4/10

Struggled aerially and looked uncertain throughout. Not his finest hour, particularly when the crosses started raining in.

Ladislav Krejčí – 4/10

Could have reacted quicker for the opener and was second-best again for the fourth. A night to forget for the defender.

Jackson Tchatchoua – 3/10

Had a tough time defensively and offered very little going forward. One of those performances where you’re left wondering what exactly went right.

Hugo Bueno – 6/10

One of the few bright sparks. Showed intent, got forward, and at least looked like he cared—which already puts him ahead of most on the pitch.

André – 5/10

Came into the game with praise but didn’t impose himself. Quiet when Wolves needed authority.

João Gomes – 4/10

Typically energetic, but things didn’t fall his way. Lost possession in a key moment leading up to a goal, one of many frustrations.

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde – 6/10

Tried to make things happen and linked play well at times. Possibly Wolves’ best performer, which says a lot about the night.

Angel Gomes – 4/10

Struggled to influence proceedings. Did come close with a free-kick, but the overall impact was minimal.

Adam Armstrong – 4/10

Worked hard but never really threatened. Effort was there, end product wasn’t.

Substitutes

Mateus Mané – 3/10

Casual in possession and played a part in conceding. Not the impact that was needed.

Rodrigo Gomes – 4/10

Barely noticeable after coming on.

Hwang Hee-chan – 3/10

Brought a bit of urgency, but no real cutting edge.

Tolu Arokodare – 4/10

Given a chance to shake things up, but had little service and even less impact.

Tom Edozie – N/A

Too little time to influence the game.

This wasn’t just a defeat; it was a reality check. Wolves looked disjointed, vulnerable at set-pieces, and alarmingly easy to play through. With time running out, performances like this make survival look less like a challenge and more like a long shot. And unless something changes quickly, that long shot might already be drifting wide.
