Wolves 2-3 West Ham Player Ratings

West Ham were the visitors to Molineux on Easter Monday and left with all three points thanks to a 3-2 win and three early goals from Lingard, Fornals and Bowen. Some abysmal defending from Wolves meant they had it all to do after being 3-0 down. Dendoncker pulled one back just before half time, with Fabio Silva bagging a brilliantly taken goal in the second half but Wolves just gave themselves too much to do to leave with any points.

Rui Patricio

Had a very busy first half picking the ball out of his net three times after just 38 minutes. He made a decent early save but was beaten at his near post for the third goal which he maybe should have done better. However, the defending in front of him was shocking for most of the first half. 5/10

Conor Coady

Awful defending for the second goal but a much more solid second half with hardly anything to deal with so the defence deserve some credit for that. He lost his normal partner at the back in Boly but questions about Coady in a back four will be sure to come up again. 4/10

Romain Saiss

Thought he had a poor night overall. Lingard went past him far too easy to make it 1-0, he did try a few long-range passes to the front men but most of the time they didn’t find a gold shirt. Similar to Coady, he’s not good enough long term in a back four but I think that was already something we were aware of but as a squad player he is perfect. 4/10

Rayan Ait Nouri

Started brightly, early shot which just rolled past Fabianski’s post. Didn’t do much wrong defensively but he does like to attack and when he loses possession there doesn’t seem to be that cover available to plug the gap at the back which invites pressure. Now Jonny is out for the season, he’s going to play every game between now and the end of May, so we’ll get to see a lot more of him. Is he worth bringing in permanently in the Summer? Time will tell. 5/10

Nelson Semedo

For me he’s much more suited to a wing-back position at the moment as you get that little extra cover and allows him to attack more freely but didn’t cover himself in glory for the second goal after being beaten a little too easy by Lingard in the corner. His main asset is dribbling with the ball but has to be able to link up better with Neto/Traore on that right wing. 5/10

Leander Dendoncker

Much better when playing in his natural central midfield position than defence. Got his first goal of the season and could have had another in the second half but smashed it over the bar, he maybe should have done better but it was pleasing to see him get off the mark for the season. 6/10

Ruben Neves

A fairly average game from Neves, didn’t seem to do much wrong or right. Tried to shield the back four and still be creative at the same time. You must feel that next season with an improved defence it’ll give him licence to show more flair in the opposition’s half. 5/10

Adama Traore

A first assist of the season for Adama. It only took eight months, but you could argue it’s not been all his fault. A superb run from his own half for our first goal skipping past a few West Ham players getting to the byline and pinging a beauty of a cross with his left foot onto Dendoncker’s head. Playing on the left seems to be getting the best out of Traore. 6/10

Pedro Neto

Still our best player going forward and we’re lucky to have had him fit all season. A lovely ball over the West Ham defensive line into club record signing Fabio Silva for our second goal, adding another assist for Neto. He had a couple of other half chances in the game but overall, he was probably our best player on the pitch. 6/10

Daniel Podence

Only managed to complete the first half but that made sense having only just recovered from a spell on the sidelines. Found the crossbar with his head which is always surprising given his height, but he adds an attacking presence and will be a key part of that trio behind the centre forward next season. 5/10

Willian Jose

Another game without a goal for the Brazilian. He snatched at an early shot inside the box and pulled it wide. Another chance fell to him about six yards out, but he stuttered and should have done better. He needs to be more clinical and at the moment I wouldn’t be signing him in the Summer. Maybe coming on in the second half next game would be the way to go. 4/10

Fabio Silva

He had one chance in the game and scored to make it 3-2. It was a brilliantly accomplished finish and you must think he should start the next game. He looks to be improving and has that hunger to score goals. 6/10

Vitinha

Didn’t have too much time to make an impact and again didn’t do too much after returning from a successful spell with the Portugal under 21’s. He does need more minutes in these remaining games to see if he’s going to be worth paying the fee in the Summer. 4/10
