Jorge Mendes is said to be working on a shock move to bring Argentine international striker Mauro Icardi to Wolves.
According to Corriere Dello Sport, Jorge Mendes has made ‘contact’ with with Wolves about the potential signing of the PSG forward. He’s said to be one of many players that PSG are looking to get off the wage bill this summer.
It’s suggested that Mendes, who isn’t actually Icardi’s agent, has been working closely with the Paris club on a number of deals – with Icardi being one of them.
It remains to be seen whether Mendes or Wolves can tempt Icardi, who’s been linked with a whole host of European clubs this window.
The former Serie A Footballer of the Year has struggled for minutes since joining PSG – mostly playing second fiddle to Kylian Mbappe. Before joining PSG, Mauro Icardi endured an extremely successful spell at Inter Milan – scoring 111 goals in 188 appearances.
Not one to shy away from controversy, questions marks would be raised around whether Icardi could be motivated enough to join a club without European football – not to mention his huge wage demands.
Wolves are said to be in the market for a centre forward, along with a central midfielder and centre back.
