Wolves closing in on Paulinho
Wolves’ longstanding transfer target Paulinho looks like he could, in fact, be on his way to Wolves as part of a €25 million move according to reports coming from Gianluca Di Marzio. The Braga striker has been linked with a move to Wolves consistently the past month with numerous news outlets (including our Wolves rumours page), including some British papers reporting that Wolves were lining up a deal.
However, Braga’s asking price of €30 million seemed to be the only stumbling block with the player wanting to make the move to the Premier League. It’s believed Wolves’ valuation of Paulinho wasn’t as much as what the Portugues club were asking for but these reports suggest that both Wolves and Braga have agreed on a fee of around €25 million for the player.
It’s not yet known whether Paulinho will be used as a cover or to play alongside Raul Jimenez or even if it is to replace the Mexican forward as he continues to be linked with a big-money move away from Molineux.
Paulinho has been in fine form this season for Braga, scoring 22 goals in 40 appearances in all competitions. He also scored against Wolves in their final Europa League group stage match.
Wolves submit an offer for talented full-back
Wolves are reportedly one of two clubs who have made an offer for highly-rated 19-year-old left-back Rayn Aït Nouri according to reports coming out of France. It’s not yet known big of an offer has been made by Wolves but Aït Nouri has been linked with Wolves before and it’s worth mentioning that the player’s agent is, of course, Jorge Mendes.
Aït Nouri has been impressive for Angers this season and has been an ever-present for the club – despite only being 19. He’s also been linked with a move to some of Europe’s elite clubs but the only two clubs to have made an offer are Wolves and Valencia according to reports.
With Jonny Otto out for the foreseeable future and only Ruben Vinagre in the senior team who’s played consistently as a left-wing-back, Aït Nouri could be a shrewd bit of business from Wolves.
Wolves considering a move for Ghoulam
Wolves have been linked with a move for Napoli left-back Faouzi Ghoulam according to Tuttosport. The Serie A club are looking to offload players this Summer and Ghoulam has struggled for minutes in Naples having suffered a series of serious injuries. It’s believed his agent Jorge Mendes is looking to force a move to England for the Algerian defender and Wolves could be a possible destination with Jonny Otto out for six months.
It’s thought that Wolves are put off by Napoli’s €10 million asking price for Ghoulam.
Wolves monitoring Dwight McNeil
According to reports in The Athletic, Wolves are monitoring Burnley’s Dwight McNeil and are admirers of the player. Wolves are named as one of a whole host of clubs who are said to be interested in the impressive young midfielder who’s been a mainstay in the Burnley starting 11 ever since he made his debut two seasons ago. No bid has been made yet for McNeil who has expressed his happiness of staying put in Burnley and would only make a move if he was guaranteed playing time.
