Fulham three, Wolverhampton Wanderers nil. And there we have it, another weekend, another loss and just when things felt like they couldn’t possibly get any worse – the leaked lineup rumours were absolutely true.
Wolves head coach Vitor Pereira fielded a rather head-scratching starting XI, and with fan favourite Brazilian midfielders Gomes and Andre both dropped to the bench, it felt like this was only going to end one way.
What appeared to be a very end-of-days team-sheet, with the performance and result to match, Pereira threw one final roll of the dice and spectacularly failed – more than likely confirming an end to the Portuguese journeyman’s time at Wolves. Written by Rich Foster.
Player Ratings
Sam Johnstone – 4
Whilst not really at fault for any of Fulham’s three goals today, he didn’t really do anything to remember either. A couple of respectable saves in the second half to stop the result from being any more embarrassing than it already was, but nothing else to really write home about for the Wolves current number one.
Ki-Jana Hoever – 3
To be in our eighth Premier League season with KJH as first choice right back is borderline criminal and he was rightly subbed at half time. Should be nowhere near a top flight football team at the moment. Woeful.
Santiago Bueno – 4
A total mix-up at the back leading to Fulham’s early lead seemed to be down to a lack of communication between him and Agbadou, which is probably to be expected when they have featured so little together. He held his composure the longer the game went on and made a couple of decent tackles to stop Fulham inflicting more misery in the second half.
Emmanuel Agbadou – 3
Oh Agbadou. What has happened to you! A total day to forget for the Ivorian – at fault for the first goal and sent off after 36 minutes for a denial of a clear goal scoring opportunity. If anyone knows what happened to the Emmanuel Agbadou of January-May 2025, please bring him back to WV1 immediately.
Toti – 4
Whilst not explicitly at fault for any of the three Fulham goals today, as a captain, you expect much more. Today needed a real leader to galvanise the team from the get go and he just isn’t that guy. Underwhelming and uninspiring.
H. Bueno – 5
I like Bueno. He always tries to make something happen, even when his teammates appear to be on an entirely different wavelength to him. I think in a team with better quality around him he could really thrive at this level. A good, if not overly eye-catching footballer who we are not seeing the best of at the moment for obvious reasons.
Ladislav Krejci – 4
The game seemed to pass him by in midfield and then things went from bad to worse for him in the second half. A mix up at the back between him and Mosquera leading to the third Fulham goal. The lad plays with his heart on his sleeve and has shown moments of brilliance at times, unfortunately today wasn’t one of them.
Marshall Munetsi – 3
Did nothing today to convince the naysayers that he is anything other than a marathon runner masquerading as a professional footballer. Stray passes, missed chances, even his pressing game wasn’t on point. I am a Munetsi fan and I absolutely recognise the importance of the job he does for the team, but today he was miles off it.
Jean-Ricner Bellegarde – 3
Got my hopes up with some nice trickery and an early shot in the opening couple of minutes and then immediately faded, and faded, and faded… The trouble with Bellegarde is the lack of consistency. Outstanding last week, completely forgettable this week. Speaking of…
Jhon Arias – 2
Invisible. Anonymous. Non-existent. I’m sorry to say, but this guy is an absolute myth. I do not see anything in him to suggest he is a Premier League footballer and another one rightly subbed off at half time. He will be back in South America before we have an (R) next to our name on the league table. Let’s just write this one off as a mistake and recoup whatever money we can for him in January. Terrible.
Jorgen Strand-Larsen – 2
Once again, it appears that he would rather be anywhere else in the world than on a football pitch donning Wolves colours at the moment. I am a huge fan of JSL, but his body language at the moment is really underwhelming. Should have levelled to make it 1-1 right on half time where he missed an open goal. It would appear Wolves may have also missed an open goal by turning down £60m from Newcastle for his signature in the summer.
Substitutes:
Joao Gomes and Andre – 4
Didn’t do much, didn’t do much wrong either. I’ve decided to put these together as that’s how they’ve become known at Wolves. Much like Ant & Dec, rarely, if ever, do you see one without the other. The fans loudly and proudly declared their choice, with the travelling away support singing each others respective songs from the 6th minute onwards until the head coach had little choice but to introduce them to the fold. The fans have spoken and the winner of this battle is quite evidently Joao & Andre. Sorry Vitor.
Yerson Mosquera – 3
Not even Mosquera could save the day today. A real lack of the housery he’s become infamous for and an own goal to add insult to injury. A sad day for Colombia’s finest wind up merchant.
Jackson Tchatchoua – 2
I’ll put this one down as Hoever mk2 – nothing more to be said.
Tolu Arokodare – 4
Fairly anonymous with little to zero service, but I’d still like to see him in the team over Strand Larsen at the moment. He definitely has something about him – if only the manager would give him the chance to show it more often.
