Wolves Transfer Rumours – June 9

Wolves in talks with Aston Villa goalkeeper

Wolverhampton Wanderers in are in talks with Aston Villa goalkeeper Matija Sarkic over a permanent deal.

The 6ft5 stopper is out of contract at the end of the season and has decided that he will be leaving Villa at the end of the season. With Sarkic being out of contract at the end of the season, Wolves wouldn’t have to pay any compensation to Aston Villa for the transfer.

The 22-year-old hasn’t played a senior appearance for Aston Villa but did impress on loan at Livingston.

Matija Sakric has played for the Montenegro national team on one occasion. Sarkic was born in Grimsby but his father is Montenegrin.

The news was broken by Talking Wolves this morning and has since been confirmed by the Express and Star.

Wolves would sign the goalkeeper with the view of loaning him out to gain more first-team experience. Sarkic does have other offers from clubs but it’s thought Wolves are his preferred option and wouldn’t have to relocate. It’s thought a deal for the keeper could be wrapped up in the coming weeks.

Wolves target could be on his way to England

Reported Wolves target Rodrigo Fernandes is no longer training with the Sporting first-team squad, and is staying in shape with the work of a personal trainer according to A Bola.

It is said that there is a ‘good possibility’ of the 19-year-old moving to England. Talking Wolves had previously reported that Fernandes could be joining Wolves for a fee believed to be between €10-12 million.

Wolves interested in Boateng

Wolves have reportedly expressed an interest in signing Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Boateng this summer.

The 22-year-old currently plays for Israeli club Hapoel Tel Aviv and it is said that Wolves would buy Boateng and loan him out due to work permit issues according to Kickgh.

Boateng has attracted interest from all around Europe. Wolves’ Senior Recruitment Lead Ben Wigglesworth is said to have recommended Emmanuel Boateng to the club.

Loiodice to return to France

Wolves will not be taking up the option to sign on-loan midfielder Enzo Loiodice at the end of the season. The France U20 international will return to his parent club Dijon.

Wolves did have the option to make Loiodice’s loan move a permanent transfer but aren’t taking Dijon up on the offer after the midfielder failed to make a first-team appearance at Molineux.

Idrissa Gueye

Wolves Transfer Rumours – June 7

Wolves linked with former Everton star

Reports coming out of France are linking Idrissa Gana Gueye with a return the Premier League and Wolves are amongst the favourites to land the midfielder.

LE10Sport report that former Everton man Gueye could be on his way out of PSG along with Ander Herrera and Julian Draxler. It’s rumoured that two English clubs, including Wolves, have ‘proposed’ a move for the Senegalese midfielder who has featured consistently for the Parisian outfit this season.

Idrissa Gana Gueye was a key player during his time at Goodison Park and would be a real coup for Wolves. It’s not yet clear how much the 30-year-old would cost Wolves but it’s likely PSG would like to recoup as much of the £30 million they spent on the midfielder.

Mourinho keen on Neves deal

Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing Ruben Neves this summer according to French news outlet LE10Sport.

The 23-year-old has played 125 times for Wolves, scoring 15 goals, and it’s said that Neves is a player that ‘appeals’ to Spurs boss Jose Mourinho.

It’s understood that Wolves won’t let Ruben Neves go this summer and it would take a substantial bid to prise him away from Molineux. The Portuguese midfielder has recently stated how much he is enjoying life in Wolverhampton and that the risky switch from Porto to Wolves has paid off.

Tottenham recently secured a £175m loan from the Bank of England to help them during the coronavirus crisis so it’s unlikely they’ll be able to stump up the cash required to sign Ruben Neves.

Rugani links resurface again

Wolves have reportedly renewed their interest in Juventus defender Daniele Rugani according to Tuttosport.

Rugani was previously linked with Wolves last summer and with the 25-year-old struggling for first-team football in Italy, a move away seems likely.

Wolves had previously shown an interest in Rugani with defensive reinforcements a real priority for Nuno. It’s believed that Arsenal are eyeing up a move for Rugani too with David Luiz set to leave the club at the end of the season.

Juventus are short of cash, along with a lot of other Italian clubs so it is thought that Rugani will leave in the next transfer window and could even be a part of a swap deal. With Juventus being constantly linked with Wolves striker Raul Jimenez, it wouldn’t surprise us if Rugani is touted by the press as part of that deal in the future.

Liverpool enquire about possible Adama transfer

Liverpool have reportedly enquired about Wolves winger Adama Traore according to the Mirror.

The Spaniard has been in great form this season for Wolves but Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has previously made no secret of his admiration for Adama, labelling him “unplayable”.

Wolves had reportedly slapped a £75 million price tag on the winger and it’s not thought the price tag was set to ward off any potential suitors for Adama who has arguably been Wolves’ most influential player this season.

Wolves are very well aware in the interest of players such as Ruben Neves, Adama Traore, Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota but as previously stated by Talking Wolves, the club is adamant that no player is for sale and they would rather build off the very sturdy foundations that have already been laid out.

Carlos Vinicius

Wolves Transfer Rumours – June 3

Wolves have bid rejected for €100 million valued striker

Benfica president Luís Filipe Vieira has confirmed that the club has rejected a €60 million ‘proposal’ from Wolverhampton Wanderers for Brazilian striker Carlos Vinícius according to reports coming out of Portuguese outlet Record. The in-form striker is in his first season at Benfica and is currently the top scorer in Liga NOS with 15 goals.

It’s believed that Benfica wants Vinícius’ release clause to be met before he can leave the club which is set at a staggering €100 million. As the case with a lot of Portuguese clubs, it’s thought Benfica have set Vinícius’ release clause so high to try and demand as much money as they can for the player, knowing full well they won’t receive bids of the amount of the player’s release clause.

Benfica’s finances aren’t in a fantastic state either and they’ll be hoping that they can receive a cash injection from the sale of Carlos Vinícius and former Wolves target Ruben Dias. As is the case with Vinícius, Dias’ release clause has been increased from €54 million to €87 million in an effort to reach an agreement on a transfer at the highest possible price point. Luís Filipe Vieira believes that if it wasn’t for the global pandemic, both players would be sold for €100 million each.

It’s believed that Vinícius is also a transfer target for both Manchester United and Liverpool. The 6ft2 striker hasn’t been overly prolific at his previous clubs but the Brazilian has really found his form in Portugal having scored 15 times in the league from just 22 games – which he only started in 14 of.

Vinícius has been on Wolves’ radar for some time

It’s been no secret that Carlos Vinícius has been a long-standing target for Wolverhampton Wanderers for some time now. The 25-year-old striker was set to join Wolves last summer in a deal worth €18 million – a fraction of the reported €60 million bid from Wolves.

The move was orchestrated by super-agent Jorge Mendes reports TugaScout who at the time wasn’t Vinícius’ agent but has since signed the player up to his Gestifute agency.

However, Wolves failed to obtain a work permit for the player with his lack of appearances for the Brazilian national team thought to be the downfall in the bid to gain a work permit. The move fell through and Carlos Vinícius joined Benfica for around €15 million instead.

Wolves open talks with Sporting over Fernandes transfer

There have reportedly been talks between Wolves and Sporting for the signing of Rodrigo Fernandes.

Wolves are possibly looking to structure a deal for the 19-year-old midfielder with figures between €10m-12m being reported according to O Jogo.

Fernandes is highly thought of by the Lisbon club. He’s featured four times this season, twice in the Europa League and twice in Liga NOS.

Gonzalo Higuain

Wolves Transfer Rumours – May 30th

Juventus set price for reported Wolves target

Following reports last weekend that Wolves were interested in Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain, Juventus have reportedly set an asking price for the Argentine.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the Italian giants will be looking for €18 million for the 32 year old who has 12 months left of his contract.

Premier League rivals Newcastle United are reportedly also interested in Higuain and could also make a move if their takeover goes ahead as planned.

We had reported this news in one of our previous Wolves rumours updates but it’s unclear whether there is any interest coming out Molineux. Higuain, 32, doesn’t fit the usual profile for players that Wolves and Fosun have recruited since their arrival. The club now look for younger players who are more likely to improve and come into their peak in their later years where the club can benefit more if the player were to be sold. However, Wolves did bring in Joao Moutinho who was a similar age to Higuain so let’s not rule this one out completely just yet.

Wolves show interest in Valladolid defender

El Desmarque has reported that Wolves have shown an interest in Real Valladolid defender Mohamed Salisu. A number of clubs are chasing the Ghanaian centre back including Atletico Madrid, Bologna, Manchester United and even Watford and Southampton more recently.

However, it is stated that French club Stade Rennes are leading the race to sign the 21-year old who has a £10 million release clause.

It has been reported previously that Wolves were looking to strengthen the centre back department in the upcoming transfer window so this could be one to keep our eye on. With Ryan Bennett looking to have played his last game in the old gold and black for Wolves, it’s looking increasingly likely that Nuno will be bringing in defensive reinforcements for the next season – whenever that may be.

Danny Loader on Wolves’ transfer radar again

Wolves are ready to reignite their interest in Reading youngster Danny Loader according to Sky Sports. The 19 year old’s contract is set to expire next month and Wolves are keen to pounce for the striker’s signature.

It’s said that ‘several’ Premier League clubs are interested in Loader, who had agreed terms with Wolves last summer before Reading pulled the plug on the deal.

Loader has spent his entire senior career at Reading, scoring one goal.

Wolves Transfer Targets According to Football Manager 2020

We’ve teamed up with the 5 Star Potential podcast once again to delve into the murky world of Wolves transfer rumours. Co-host @FridayNightFM has turned to Football Manager 2020 to run through the transfer rumours from last week and give his opinion on Wolves’ potential new boys.

The Football Manager database is the most comprehensive collection of data relating to professional football in the world. Over 1,300 scouts have analysed more than 600,000 players and coaching staff.

Kristoffer Ajer

Kristoffer Ajer FM Stats

Currently unproven in a top division, Ajer has so many similarities to former Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk, strong on the ball, good in the air, a threat from set-pieces and an excellent distributor of the ball. In this current Wolves side Ajer would fit in perfectly with his ability to start attacks with sudden vertical passes or play his way out of trouble with the calmness and composure he honed as a central midfielder earlier in his career.

Signing Rating 8.5/10

Óscar Rodriguez

Oscar Rodriguez FM Stats

Wolves weren’t exactly overawed with their last signing from Real Madrid, but Óscar is arguably a hidden gem in an arsenal of midfield talent at Los Blancos. Currently on loan at Leganes, Óscar, is a more attacking version of Neves, he loves a shot from distance, only Lionel Messi scored more from outside the box this season and he possesses a deadly freekick.

Signing Rating 9/10

Carlos Vinícius

Carlos Vinicius FM Stats

Benfica’s Brazilian bagsman is the talk of the town across Europe but Wolves’ strong links to Portugal mean they’ve been linked with him for some time now. At 6’4 there’s a chance that he could be lined up as a replacement for Raúl Jiménez should he depart in the summer as the pair have a number of similarities. Vinícius is more than just a target man, his strength and speed coupled with his poacher like attributes mean he could be deployed as an out ball target from the back or finishing off an attack with his deadly left foot.

Signing Rating 8/10

Danny Loader

Danny Loader FM Stats

Loader is one of the relative unknowns from England’s Under 17 World Cup winning squad from 2017. In a squad that contained the likes of Callum Hudson-Odoi, Phil Foden & Morgan Gibbs-White it’s fair to say that Loader’s profile has been somewhat halted due to him being outside the Premier League. On the flip side, he’s been playing first team football regularly where the others haven’t and although Reading play him through the middle as a striker he’s probably more comfortable playing from the left or right and when there was talk of a move to the Bundesliga, the Jadon Sancho comparisons started. In Football Manager he’s still very raw and similar to real life he needs some elite competition to fulfil his obvious potential.

Signing Rating 6.5/10

Emmanuel Dennis

Dennis FM Stats

I’m going to hit this straight off the bat, he gives me Adama vibes. He can play across the front three, mainly operating from the right and loves to play direct football taking on his opponent at any given opportunity. Much like Adama he needs nurturing and in Nuno he has the perfect mentor. Dennis has plenty of eyes on him in real life, along with Wolves he’s been linked with Arsenal, Newcastle and Lyon and with Brugge expected to accept offers of around £13m he could prove real value in the market post Covid-19. In Football Manager his pace and acceleration are his stand out attributes, add a knocks ball past opponent player trait on him and he’ll be the nemesis of many a full back!

Signing Rating 7.5/10

Gonzalo Higuain

Wolves Transfer Rumours – 25th May

Wolves to ‘shut down’ Summer transfer moves

The Daily Star have reported that Fosun and Wolves have no plans to sell big name starts Raul Jimenez or Adama Traore this summer and are set to ‘shut down’ any formal bids made for the duo. Fosun have stated they would rather ‘push on’ rather than ‘cash in’ on the pair who have had an amazing season in the Old Gold.

Wolves interested in Argentine Striker

Wolves are reportedly interested in Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain.

Newcastle and River Plate are also interested in a move for the 32-year-old who previously struggled in the Premier League with Chelsea. The Express have reported that numerous Premier League clubs are interested but Gonzalo has recently stated that he could return to his homeland to play for another club there before his career finishes.

Wanderers linked with Real Madrid midfielder

Wolves are reportedly interested in Real Madrid midfielder Óscar Rodríguez.

The Spaniard, who is currently on loan at Leganés, is also attracting interest from Schalke and Lazio. It is rumoured Madrid value the 21-year-old at 20 million euros. The report in Mundo Deportivo states Los Blancos are willing to let the midfielder go.

It’s thought that the midfield area is somewhere that Nuno and his backroom team feel needs strengthening but Nuno reportedly turned down the chance to sign Dani Olmo in January who then moved to RB Leipzig.

Raul Jimenez transfer links intensify in Italy

Juventus’ interest in Raul Jimenez has been reported again in Tuttosport.

The Italian club are looking for ways to afford the deal. The Italian outlet says an option could be a swap deal including defender Daniele Rugani and midfielder Adrien Rabiot.

Wolves were said to be in for Daniele Rugani as Nuno looked to bolster his defensive ranks but it’s not known whether a bid was made. Adrien Rabiot has been linked with a move to numerous top-level clubs since his move from Paris to Turin as a free agent.

It’s understood that Wolves, if they were to sell would be looking for a straight cash deal and not a swap deal.
